Prince In Penury!

I've heard, once we were famous and rich,

Since my childhood till today,

Through legends and lore

I discover my ancestors' glory

Alas we are rich and famous no more!

I know not where it did all go?

All is lost, all is gone

Ones that are born

Today in our lineage

Are without money and a name!

They ought to strive for their fate,

Fortune and fame.

We weren't born to see

The mighty castles and carriages great!

But alone and only penury!

Days do pass and nights do go

In listening to age-old stories!

Of glory, glory and glory!

My ears are worn out of late,

I despise the ill luck, our misfortune and fate!

Wouldn't we have been feared?

For doesn't awe with power come?

But what would cursing and swearing do?

Now I have full well understood,

I was born to revive our glory!

For my ancestors, for my successors,

I'll stand and be the benefactor

And pave my way to glory!

Here I stand,

Here I advance, Here I go,

Towards my glorious goal!!

WHAT WILL A MAN KNOW WOMAN'S PAIN!!

What will a man know
A woman’s pain
Her pain so dear
Her enigmatic smile
Still suffering the pain.

Man boasting of his valour,
Making the woman belittled,
But does he ever ponder
Over his own birth,
His source of existence,
Who has suffered that pain,
That, he’ll never understand.

The agony to welcome a new being,
A loved one,
To embrace him in her arms,
How sweet a bond,
How sweet a relation!
What does a man know,
This sufferance of unique kind?

The sweet pain that unites
The two souls in one,
How beautiful is this pain,
The relation of love
Of mother and son
Of mother and child!

Does it then not hurt,
To destroy that life
The life so pure and holy,
Without emotion and feeling,
One butchers and kills all
No heart, no soul
Only greed and hatred.

Mother, whose soul never cries,
Is tormented by death and torture
Her smile is gone forever,
Her heart becomes numb forever!
She no more resembles a mother.

God why did you create sin?
Sin of birth and sin of death!
Never ending cycle of sin and sinner
All are sinners alike
Lord show your mother’s heart,
Help us redeem the path of peace & glory!

Make the mothers
Of all nations unite,
All stand against this misery,
So valiantly called War and Victory!

Yearning to return to Heaven-like Home

The evening is silent,
The sun has died,
But there’s hope
Again it will rise.

The mountains stand high,
The lake’s water ripples,
The autumn dew,
Sheds from the skies above.

The autumn is transposing,
Into the winter months,
The days are short
And the nights rule.

In this tranquil silence
New moon in its full ardor moves,
Enchanting & casting a spell,
With its dewy moonlight,
In a trance I am subdued.

Fog is filling the open space,
Covering the lake and the trees.
From the shrine at the lake’s end
Dedicated to the regional goddess

Chants of spiritual notes recur,
The temple bells chime,
Muezzin’s mystical call,
And churches’ heavenly bells toll every hour.

As the noises die down,
Silence again pervades,
Having a divine power
Engrossing my earthly form!

I want to remain forever,
Even after my death, in this heavenly place
Away from the cacophony
Of those super-urban towns.

Here there is peace,
There are moments to share,
Time enough to conquer your soul,
So mystifying is this paradise!

But away from here,
Away from home,
In those mighty towns,
Where no true life remains,

I’m afraid I won’t be able to bear
Those hostilities, those cold feelings of beings,
Whose desires have risen,
To the zenith, lost in material bargains,

Without any emotions,
Buying and selling mankind.
I want to drift away from there,
To return forever to this heavenly place!

A day will surely come
When I will come back home
To this silence, to this beauty,
To be in God’s glory!!

HARD TO SURVIVE

Silence here pervades not for a moment

Rumbling cracking croaking shreiking

Is all that's heard here in this noisy town

No room for feelings no room for love

Pity here seems as a forbidden thing

Eagles and vultures ravens and crows

Circle round your heads

Not a sparrow neither a mynah is seen

Its monsoon, rain doesn't come

Moon also seems very glum

Heavy and bright is the sun

Piercing through the skin

Winters harsh and fog-filled

Surviving here is a challange

IN DESOLATION I'LL HAVE TO LIVE THIS LIFE

In desolation I’ll have to live this life
I’m quite sure
For in no one have I found a companion, a friend
I’m n’t able to get along
Be it a brother or age-old mate
I’m afraid
Will I ever be able to find a soul-mate?
In my dreams aloneI hope to find one.
Times have gone of golden age
When there was someone
Whom I used to talk with
And gleefully used to laugh
Now a shadow dark is over me cast
Which I’m afraid
Will never drift past,
In silence listening to Mozart,
Alone in my majestic room
I sit with gloomy air
Reading lives of people ruined
A faint lamp burns by my side
Seeing the kindling fire
I’m lost in profound thought
One day I too shall burn in it
Or will be six feet under carved
A life-size spider slithers in the curtain
As of my death it might be certain.

I AM LOST SOMEWHERE PROFOUND

I AM LOST SOMEWHERE PROFOUND,
THE DARKNESS SUCKS ME IN
ON MY BACK I AM FALLING DOWN THE RIDGE
HANDS SPREAD FEETS APART
THE LEGS TREMBLE,
HEART GIVES A START
HALF-WAY DOWN THE FALL
I REGAIN MY CALM
A SACRED COMPOSED FEEL
EMANATES FROM WITHIN
IN MOMENTS I’LL KNOW WHERE I’LL LAND UP
BROAD ELYSIAN FIELDS OR DOOMED HOT HELL

FROM WITHIN A VOICE CALLS
SAYING I’LL MEET THE DEVINE
THAT AWAITS MY ARRIVAL
SUCH SOFT AND SERENE THE WIND SEEMS
IN MID-AIR I AM FLYING
FACE TOWARDS THE SKY
THE GLITTER OF THE SUN AND SILVERY CLOUDS
THE BIRDS’ SWEET SOUNDS
IN MARVEL I M LOST
BUT AWARE OF THE APPROACHING DAWN
THAT HAS A DIFFERENT DAY IN STORE
FOR MY SILENT SOUL
LOVE ARISES FROM WITHIN
FOR EVERYTHING AROUND
AMIDST THE FLOWING STREAM, THE RUSTLING TREES
THE CALM WIND AND TWITTERING BIRDS
MY LIFE’S TAKING A MORTAL TURN

IN THESE SERENE SURROUNDINGS MY REMAINS SHALL LIE
FARAWAY FROM THE MAN’S HANDS
FROM HERE I SHALL ASCEND
TO GOD’S SECURITY
WHERE IN CELESTIAL COMPANY
I SHALL RESIDE TO ETERNIY
TO BE OFF WITH THIS NEVER CEASEING
CYCLE OF BIRTH-DEATH

A Lover's Company

Like the clouds in the sky

Like the maskara of the eye

Thou art the love of my life

That makes it rich and complete

Like the song of a mynah

In the winter's chill

Warming my inner core

Burning me pure

Thou art the daughter of Venus

That keeps me feeling warm

Kindling my candle of life

Full of glowing Light,

Like the dawn of spring

Like the peacock's wing

You fill my life with love and amour

Of myriad colours

Like the song of a poet

Dance of ballet

You make me advance each day

To prosper more than the previous day

You fill me with passion

Of love and peace

In the setting sun

In the twilight's sea

You make me bloom

With thy company so charming

Like the thundering light

That is full of might

You fill me profoud with emotions deep

Toiling Night!

These first rays of sun

Have begun to enter my room

The dawn approaches the moon!

After a sleepless night I am going to bed

For the slumber to overcome me

When day is going to begin

My hard work's night has ended!

In a rough day ahead

I'll strive to sleep

But in such chaos

It seems worst to be!

Vivid Memories!

Those walks on the hills,
Up and down around in chill,
We wandered in amorous feelings
Every moment passed in peace
Serenity engulfed everything around
The long sittings in the cliffs
Seeing the setting sun
Hide behind the glowing hill
Down into the horizon.
An outline of the lofty mounts
That stretch as far as the eyes could see
An occasional bark of a deer
Or a terrifying loopard's roar
Could be heard rupturing the stll silence.
Early morning twitter of the birds
Suiting the scenery in perfection.
Friends' unions at our elysian college
That have us united
For those beautiful past memories
Which moistens my eyes with nostalgia,
Every corner and every passing tree
Has a unique memory to remember.
The expansive grounds of the Governor House
That we wandered so often in peace
Lost in wilderness of the great woods,
That communion with nature
Which matured us
Made our souls nurture
And was its nourishment.
Those memories I can never fail
For they'll define me till the end.
Here in the dead of night
I can recount them clear as crystal
Those winter evenings
In which we played truant
And went to relax in cliffs
To enjoy the natural beauty
To nourish our inner soul
For that peace is hardly found today.
At dawn we used to sit
At the serene lake's shore
Enjoying the first rays of sun,
Filtering the water pure,
Emerging from behind the mountain tops.
Swans that swam
Near the pristine library
Was a sight dear,
Travellers going berserk
At the beauty of the hills
Shreiking and shouting in joy
Of their soul's remuneration.
Winter's snow was so placid and calm
And its numbness
Was to us a charm.
Dwelling in this serene town
Of amour and joy
How everyday passed without cloy,
Love spreads here as the first rays of sun
Emanating from the heavens above
Shining in bloom
Driving away the gloom
A masterpiece has indeed been created here
By the mighty god
Where in tranquil silence
We can feel divine!

The Beautiful Beast!

With thy stripes

And thy face away from me

There is an eerie beauty

That you posess!

Thou stride with such regality,

The king of Jungle,

The giant feline,

That charm you have,

That glitter of your eyes

And thy royal tastes

Thy way of life

Enchants me unbearably.

In freedom you enjoy

The bright sun under the tree

With thy ferocity thou kill

The cattle and meek deer in might,

But not without a reason.

Seated aside the silent stream

On rocks and stones

Staring blankly down the ravine

My awe for thou

Seems growing endlessly.

To admire you

I follow you

To the hills and to the plains alike

In the jungles and thick woods

Just to get a glance of you

In all the places

That you haunt and dwell in

With thy superior elan

And as thou walk

Boasting of your royal clan

With alert ears

And swaying tail.

I am afraid to think

Of thy petty sparse numbers

Whilst man breeds in countlessness

Thou art dwindling to lifelessness

Thou shalt be fostered

Shall be guarded for

For thou art the original

Original star of the forest

Without whom light of life

Will be ravished.

The tide of hope

The ride of a goddess

And of mythical charm

Thou shalt live

Until the Doomsday

Comes to harm!
