With thy stripes
And thy face away from me
There is an eerie beauty
That you posess!
Thou stride with such regality,
The king of Jungle,
The giant feline,
That charm you have,
That glitter of your eyes
And thy royal tastes
Thy way of life
Enchants me unbearably.
In freedom you enjoy
The bright sun under the tree
With thy ferocity thou kill
The cattle and meek deer in might,
But not without a reason.
Seated aside the silent stream
On rocks and stones
Staring blankly down the ravine
My awe for thou
Seems growing endlessly.
To admire you
I follow you
To the hills and to the plains alike
In the jungles and thick woods
Just to get a glance of you
In all the places
That you haunt and dwell in
With thy superior elan
And as thou walk
Boasting of your royal clan
With alert ears
And swaying tail.
I am afraid to think
Of thy petty sparse numbers
Whilst man breeds in countlessness
Thou art dwindling to lifelessness
Thou shalt be fostered
Shall be guarded for
For thou art the original
Original star of the forest
Without whom light of life
Will be ravished.
The tide of hope
The ride of a goddess
And of mythical charm
Thou shalt live
Until the Doomsday
Comes to harm!
